Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)Hyderabad’s Center for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE) has called for applications for its Two Year fully-paid Fellowship, of which the first year will be a training programme followed by a second year of incubation. The last date for applying is 15th April 2018.
The Fellowship comes with a stipend of Rs 50,000 per month during the first year of training and is open to applicants from all backgrounds ranging from doctors, management graduates, engineers, designers.
The CfHE Fellows would be exposed to deep learning in Biodesign process. The CfHE partners with Adjunct faculty from Stanford University during the fellowship. It’s conceived, mentored & run by Bay Area entrepreneurs, Indian & US academics; Offers monthly stipend of Rs. 50,000
Prof. Renu John, Co-Head, CfHE and Head, Deptt. of Biomedical Engg, IIT Hyderabad, said, “This Fellowship program aims at training qualified candidates in applying technological approach for nation’s pressing healthcare needs in a systematic and repeatable manner. It plans to fulfill its mission by incorporating hands-on clinical experience, creating engaged mentorship and building an ecosystem of healthcare partners, industries and venture capitalists.”
The CfHE program is dedicated to achieving universal healthcare by igniting the spark of entrepreneurship in youth and providing them with focused training and top-notch mentorship.
Two startups have winning awards
Two startups that came out of CfHE from the 2017 batch have secured funding and are winning awards as well as pitching successfully in the mainstream entrepreneurship ecosystem. NemoCare and BeAble are good examples of the traction CfHE is enjoying.
One of India’s most competitive and coveted fellowships, the CfHE program is an unique world-class initiative conceived, mentored and run by a group of Bay area entrepreneurs, top Indian and U.S. academicians in association with experts from biomedical industry. The full-time in-residence fellowship and training will be strongly hands-on. The final number of fellows will vary depending on the quality of applicants.
The training includes deep clinical immersions at private and public hospitals and ongoing exposure to the health care industry.Successful applicants learn about the bio design process from IIT Hyderabad academics and are offered access to mentors, industry professionals, investors and advisors.
The Fellowship is designed as a simulated entrepreneurial journey with clinical immersion, needs, analysis and design, ideation, business model development and culminates in the pitch to investors. In designing solutions, fellows avail the deep technological expertise of the research labs at IIT Hyderabad.
At the end of first year, qualifying individuals will be offered an incubation grant to start-up their dream idea. They become incubated companies at CfHE and continue to attract support both in terms of mentorship, access to funding opportunities and physical space in the state-of-the-art infrastructure at IIT Hyderabad dedicated to CfHE.

The notification to shortlisted candidates will be sent before 10th May 2018 and an interview via Skype would be held between 12th and 15th May 2018. The final interview would be held at IIT Hyderabad campus during the last week of May 2018.
